Ikei Island and Hiking in Nago

It's been a crazy week for sure. We haven't had the best luck, but we're trucking along! Both our cars completely died this week. Like, the engines. In the same week. Lucky us. Steve is leaving for 5 weeks this Saturday (he'll miss Halloween and Thanksgiving.), so we bought a new (used) one from a dealership that should hopefully last us a little longer! We still haven't gotten the new car yet, as there's been some delay and confusion, but hopefully we'll be good to go this Thursday. So we're without a working car for a few days, but Steve did get a cheap Japanese bike! He can ride it down to Kadena/Foster in about the same time it takes to drive there! (because of traffic) We also didn't have power for 3 days because of the massive typhoon (more on that later), plus Steve found out he may be leaving for 6 months in January...It's just been a lot all at once, but things are still good considering...luckily Avery's not in "real" school yet, so it's no big deal for her to miss a few days.

A few weeks ago we went to Ikei island. There's a few islands surrounding Okinawa, and this one is pretty close to us. It was very pretty, as expected. We didn't go to the main beach part. We just hiked along the water to a smaller beach. We actually weren't planning on swimming, so we didn't wear swim suits. The kids didn't care. In they went in their clothes!

This park in Nago was a lot of fun. We hiked a couple miles uphill to get to another amazing play ground. I don't think this place is too well known, because we were the only ones there at the park. We saw a couple people hiking to some of the other attractions at the park. Steve has been using the "Map It Okinawa" website to find things to do here. Most people use "Okinawa Hai" which has a lot, but I think "Map It Okinawa" has some of the less touristy places.
We went here before the sworm of Typhoons hit us, which is why it's so green and pretty. The typhoons blew all the leaves off the trees.=(

Pretty hiking.

Avery showing off her "boo boo."

Walking across a GIANT bridge.

So high!

It was hard to take a picture o the whole thing.

Park!!

Good thing this crazy circle thing was closed otherwise Avery would have wanted to do it for sure. She is fearless at playgrounds these days. And just being up high in general. She's still scared of dogs, though!

She's been begging me to do gymnastics.

Heading back down - very tired!
