I was definitely skeptical (as I am of all the restaurants here because I can't read the menus, and I don't want raw fish!). No raw fish here, and they had an English menu with pictures=) Also, almost every table was occupied by Americans, so I figured it was safe to say they'd have something we'd all like. That and the fact that two of Steve's friends back at Pendleton told him he HAD to go to this place. It's actually a chain, so they're all over the island.
So in Japan you push something at the table that "calls" the server over when you're ready to order (this took us awhile to figure out). They're super efficient here which is nice. No laid back strangling like in Italy (LOVE Italy, but, boy, I would hate to have to take my kids out to eat there...slow, slow, SLOW!). Then you choose which type of curry you want and the spice level.
I chose vegetable with no spice.
Steve got a 5. It was insanely spicy. I took the smallest bite possible and couldn't get rid of the taste. I can't even image what the 10 is like. The food doesn't really look good in the pictures, but I promise it was! And I've even grown to be a picky eater, so you can trust me. We find that the Japanese aren't as into appearances as Americans. For example, menus just consist of a snapshot picture of the food. No professional photo editing to make it look delicious. Just a picture I could have taken. lol
The kids love rice, so they both ate their whole meal. Noah even ate the rest of his curry plain with a spoon after he finished his rice. Very kid friendly meal that ended with a cookie and a coin to put in the toy vending machine on the way out.
For some reason, Noah loved these "Radish Pickle."
Kids meal
The Japanese love kids. Especially babies. Noah I think is still seen as a baby because of his pacifier, and the women here just go NUTS over him. And he just smiles. Some lady that was gawking at him went on to take a picture of him. Steve thinks we should get a Japanese babysitter for him just to make their day!
